TUESDAY - DECEMBER 28th Our "NEW YEAR'S EVE EXTRAVAGANZA" begins this morning as we travel to O'Hare Airport to board a flight for California where our New Year's Eve Celebration will take place. Upon our arrival in San Diego we'll transfer to our lodging where we'll have time to unpack and relax. This evening we'll have a chance to unwind and become better acquainted as we enjoy dinner with our traveling companions.
WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 29th Our first day in "Sunny" Southern California will be a day of fun and discovery as we visit the world famous San Diego Zoo, featuring Giant Pandas, Gorilla Tropics, Hippo Beach and Polar Bear Plunge. This 100-acre Zoo is home to over 4,000 rare and endangered birds, mammals and reptiles. Our time at the Zoo will include a narrated Zoofari pass. Later today we'll tour America's finest city and California's historic birthplace. Some of the highlights on our tour will be the Coronado Bridge - Coronado Island - Balboa Park - Sea Port Village and so much more.
THURSDAY - DECEMBER 30th All aboard the Amtrak Coastal Train for a rail tour that hugs the Pacific Ocean as we travel north to San Juan Capistrano where we will visit the mission that was made famous by the famed returning swallows. Later today we'll travel to Anaheim where we will tour the Crystal Cathedral. This awe-inspiring, nearly 3,000-seat cathedral will sparkle as the California sun fills this all-glass church with light. This evening we'll attend the spectacular performance of "The Glory of Christmas" the story of the Nativity told through the creative blend of a cast of more than 100 actors, with live animals, flying angels and special effects. Pre-recorded orchestration by the London Symphony, as well as the cathedral’s world-renowned pipe organ, provides the musical backdrop for this Christmas celebration.
FRIDAY - DECEMBER 31st Our day will begin as we travel to the site where the floats are being constructed and the final touches are taking place for tomorrow's parade. This afternoon a local guide will join us and we're off to discover "The City of Angels." Our tour will include Hollywood, with stops at Mann's Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame we'll travel to downtown L.A. Beverly Hills, Century City, Chinatown and much more. After a very busy day we'll return to our lodging for a relaxing evening and dinner.
SATURDAY - JANUARY 1st HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY PARADE DAY! Our day begins early as we travel to Pasadena for the "Parade of All Parades." Once we've arrived our coach will park and we'll make our way to our reserved grandstand seating. Don't forget to take your camera and plenty of film. Today we'll view the 118th Tournament of Roses Parade along Colorado Boulevard for the ultimate in up-close viewing... You'll see the giant floral floats... Smell the aroma of the millions of roses and other flowers... Hear the marching bands filling the air with their robust sounds! Following the parade we'll travel to Long Beach to the spectacular Aquarium of the Pacific. We'll even catch a view of the legendary Queen Mary as we complete our day.
SUNDAY - JANUARY 2nd Our travels today will take us past the Santa Monica Pier and beautiful Malibu enroute to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. This state-of-the-art museum takes you from Reagan's early years to his time spent as a world leader. You'll quickly learn that the cupboards and cabinets of presidential history contain more than official documents.
You can also see the final resting place of President Reagan and the exciting new exhibit featuring "Air Force One." Our day continues as we travel to the J. Paul Getty Museum. Your experience at the Getty Center begins with a tram ride to the summit. Arriving at the central plaza, you'll be surrounded by gardens, terraces and the dramatic architecture of the Getty Center's buildings. On your self-guided visit you'll see paintings by many of the most familiar masters Rembrandt and Monet and more. You'll also discover one of the greatest collections of drawings by such artists as Michelangelo and Degas. From the museum's terraces and walkways, you will encounter breathtaking views of the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains.
MONDAY - JANUARY 3rd This morning we'll begin our Homeward Journey as we make our way to the airport, bringing with us many special California memories of our "Wonderful" New Year's Celebration
and the spectacular Rose Parade.
RESERVATIONS AND CANCELLATIONS
A deposit of $300.00 per person must accompany the reservation. Payment of the balance of the tour price should be made no later than October 1, 2010. Cancellations made prior to October 1, 2010, will result in a $25.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations made on or after October 1, 2010, will result in a cancellation fee of $25 00, plus all charges assessed by airlines, hotels, transportation companies, cancellation penalties, telex cables and long-distance telephone charges. No refunds for cancellations made seven (7) days or less from departure date.
