| WELCOME TO PENNSYLVANIA, WHERE A NATION WAS BORN, AND TO GETTYSBURG, WHERE A NATION WAS SAVED!
MONDAY - AUGUST 16th Today we travel through our home state into Ohio and soon to arrive in Pennsylvania. As we journey eastward we'll have a chance to relax and unwind as we enjoy the beautiful scenery from our motorcoach windows. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at the Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford, Pennsylvania, prior to arriving at our lodging in the Lancaster area, which will be our home for the next three nights.
TUESDAY - AUGUST 17th After a delicious breakfast buffet we're off to discover Gettysburg, with a local guide. Once in Gettysburg we'll make our way to the "New" Visitors Center where we will see the film, A New Birth of Freedom, featuring experiences that will immerse you in the sights, sounds and emotions of the battle and its aftermath. From here you'll make your way into the Cyclorama to view this completely restored three-dimensional diorama depicting the Battle of Gettysburg. In your remaining time at the museum you will have a chance to visit the galleries: 1. The unfinished work of the Declaration of Independence; 2. The Campaign and Battle of Gettysburg; 3. The Gettysburg Address, the Civil War from Gettysburg to Appomattox, reconciliation, and the consequences of the War. From here our day continues as a Battlefield Guide comes aboard our coach to take us through the National Military Park, giving us a detailed explanation of the events which make this site the most visited, most written about and most intensely studied battle every recorded. As we travel throughout the park we'll step back in time to July 1863 the turning point of the war between the states. Our day continues as we board a shuttle to visit the Eisenhower farm and home. As we visit the home we will see many of the president's paintings, gifts and other interesting items. After a busy day it’s time to relax as we enjoy dinner at the Historic Dobbins House, while enjoying our dessert there will be a special visit from Abraham Lincoln. Following dinner we'll bid farewell to Gettysburg as we return to our lodging in Lancaster where we can relax and unwind.
