FRIDAY - MARCH 28th - Are you looking for a winter get-a-way? Here's the perfect trip for you. Why not join us for ten beautiful days as we travel to Georgia and the Carolinas in the Beauty of Spring. There are few areas in North America that behold the beauty that is in store for you on this outstanding Spring tour. Our Spring Get-A-Way begins as we travel south through our home state - into Kentucky and Tennessee - for our first nights lodging in Nashville. Today as we motor along we'll enjoy the scenery from our spacious motorcoach windows as well as the warmth of our new found friends. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at a wonderful restaurant followed by Friday night at the Grand 0le Opry.
SATURDAY - MARCH 29th - This morning it is Rise and Shine and we'll soon be off traveling south toward Atlanta. Enroute we'll stop in Chattanooga to explore their 1905 train station that has been restored in all its grandeur. Before departing we'll enjoy lunch in the Garden Restaurant and then we'll continue onto Atlanta where our local guide will be awaiting our arrival. They will board our motorcoach and we're off. We'll see the sites that make Atlanta such a vibrant and progressive city - from the Civil War to Atlanta's first Victorian subdivision to old favorites like the Fox Theatre and the Capitol, you will learn how this tiny little railroad terminal grew to be an International City. On tour this afternoon we'll visit the Cyclorama where you can experience for yourself a day in that long ago Civil War battle of Atlanta, July 22, 1864. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at one of Atlanta's outstanding restaurants. Following dinner we will take a stroll through Centennial Olympic Park as we make our way to our lodging.
SUNDAY - MARCH 30th - Our day begins at The First Baptist Church of Atlanta - Charles F. Stanley, Pastor. After a very inspiring service our local guide once again boards our motorcoach as we travel south to Warm Springs and Callaway Gardens. Warm Springs, Georgia, and FDR's much-loved Little White House, is our first destination. Here you will see the simple life the president enjoyed on his visits to the Georgia Hills. The museum is full of his belongings... and offers you an educational and emotional experience of the past. From here we'll take a shore drive across Pine Mountain to view the absolutely beautiful Callaway Gardens - 12,000 acres of woodlands, lakes and gardens - a horticultural haven. The main attraction of the gardens is the John A.
Sibley Horticultural Center, a five-acre garden complex featuring state-of-the-art technology in energy conservation and plant display. A spectacular two-story waterfall, natural rock galls and glass doors, which open to the outdoor gardens, provide a unique garden experience. While at the gardens we will enjoy one of our nation's most outstanding butterfly displays at the Day Butterfly Center. The facility is the largest glass-enclosed tropical conservatory in North America and serves as a home for over 1,000 tropical butterflies. Don't worry if one lands on your shoulder... he is only saying "Hello." Before departing we'll enjoy dinner at the beautiful Callaway
Inn.
MONDAY - MARCH 31st - We'll continue our Spring Get-A-Way as we leave Atlanta this morning making out way through Georgia soon to arrive in The Golden Isles. What a beautiful place to spend the afternoon!!! A local guide will join us as we begin our tour of Jeykll Island, known as the millionaires exclusive hide-a-way and winter retreat of the nations elite - 1888 to 1942. We will view homes such as the Goodyears, Rockefellers, Pulitzers, Morgans and other elite families escaping each winter to Jekyll's now renamed Jekyll Island Club. Here we'll discover one of the most elegant and exciting areas of America's past. We will overnight on St.
Simons Island where we will enjoy dinner at one of the island's favorite restaurants
TUESDAY - APRIL 1st - After breakfast our local guide will once again meet us to begin our morning first exploring St. Simons then Sea Islands. On St. Simons, the moss-covered oaks and ocean breezes weave the past into the present, highlighting the days of Spanish missions, colonial settlements and cotton plantations. We will be visiting Colonial Fort Frederick, Historic Christ Church and the St. Simons Lighthouse. From here we'll travel to the World Famous Sea Island Drive, lined with magnificent homes and century-old live oaks. You will find it to be one of the most beautiful streets in American and the home of the famous Cloister Hotel and Resort. Lunch today will be in the charming village, where you will have a chance to grab a bite as well as explore the many little shops. After lunch we'll make our way to Historic Savannah. In Savannah you will discover the grid design of rectangular lots. The shaded squares remains much the same today as it was over two centuries ago when General James Edward Oglethorpe plotted out North America's first city planned on a system of squares. We will discover the fabulous old homes, tall steepled churches, and renovated warehouses, which reflect the grand architecture of Savannah's past. You will discover their pride and history are well preserved. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at one of Savannah fine restaurants.
WEDNESDAY - APRIL 2nd - This morning we bid farewell to Savannah and we're off to Charleston, South Carolina to visit one of the most beautifully preserved antebellum cities. Upon our arrival our local guide will greet us as they give us a warm welcome to Charleston and set out to explore this beautiful historic city. We will make our way to the Market Place in the Heart of Historic Charleston around lunchtime. Here you'll be on your own to enjoy lunch and shopping in the open-air atmosphere, which is well known for its unique shops and boutiques. A Carriage Tour through the Historic District will highlight our afternoon. This evening we'll make our way to Myrtle Beach where we'll enjoy dinner before checking into our oceanfront property - which will be our home for the next 3 nights.
THURSDAY - APRIL 3rd - Today is your day to relax and enjoy the ocean - from your oceanfront room - the beach - shopping - it's your day to do as you wish. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at "RIOZ, Brazilian Steakhouse'' before an evening of entertainment at the live show, "One, the Show. "
FRIDAY - APRIL 4th - Our local guide joins us as we travel to the Myrtle Beach Art Museum for a Postcard Tour and More of Early Myrtle Beach. Author Susan McMillan will share her experiences researching and writing her popular book, "Myrtle Beach and Conway in Vintage Postcard." Our morning continues at Brookgreen Gardens. Here we will have an overview of the gardens before we set off on a private tour of them. Lunch today will be at The Heritage Plantation - one of the most exclusive country clubs in the area. It will be like eating at Tara. This evening you will have a chance to enjoy Broadway at the Beach where you'll have time to enjoy dinner on your own as well as take in a little shopping. Later on we'll attend - "The Carolina Opry" - a hilarious comedy, a little bit of country and a lot more.
SATURDAY - APRIL 5th - This morning we bid farewell to Myrtle Beach traveling north through the Carolinas to Hendersonville. Following lunch at a local BBQ Restaurant a guide will join us as we travel the countryside to the home place of American poet, Carl Sandburg, where he spent 22 years of his long and productive life. We will also visit St. John in The Wilderness Episcopal Church, which will offer a unique perspective of prominent families in southern and national history. Our tour will end in Historic Downtown Hendersonville, where you will have time to visit some of their quaint shops including the 1905 Mast General Store. This evening we will be staying at the Historic Inn on Church Street, where you will enjoy a very delightful dinner and stay.
SUNDAY - APRIL 6th - We travel homeward today through Tennessee and Kentucky. It's hard to believe but - before you know it, we'll be HOME SWEET HOME with many wonderful memories that will last forever as we've visited some of the most beautiful country in the United States.
